Research Activities:

He is working on understanding and establishment of structurefunction relationships of solid-state energy materials. This means that material manipulation on the molecular scale (by smart synthesis) and on the mesoscopic scale (by size and morphology tuning) are used to tailor-make functional properties. On the molecular scale, he has synthesized and developed polymeric, hybrid and ceramic solid materials. On the mesoscopic scale, to study electronic, vibrational, electric and optical properties of resulting products and structures, bottom-up and top-down approaches have been used to synthesize micron-, nano- and quantum dotsized structures that are characterized not only by highresolution microscopic techniques, such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), but also by physical characterization and spectroscopic techniques, such as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), Raman, impedance and photoluminescence (PL). Specifically, he is using enhanced spectroscopic methods, such as impedance spectroscopy, as the main tool to study conductivity, charge transport and other electrical properties in solidstate electronic and ionic systems. This highly fundamental research approach is closely related to nano-technological and energy harvesting applications.
